Firefighters in Ekurhuleni were battling a blaze at a paper recycling company in Germiston on Thursday morning.
Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson William Ntladi says the fire is believed to have started in the early hours of Thursday morning.
"Bales of recycling material are well alight.
"Firefighters from Germiston central, Boksburg central, Wadeville and Primrose fire stations are busy with active flame suppression.
"A fleet of 5 fire engines is fully engaged," says Ntladi.
The cause of the fire was unknown and no injuries or deaths were recorded.

Ntladi says apart from a strong wing fuming the flames, fire fighters also had an issue of low water pressure from the fire hydrants on site.
“We are using now water tankers to shuttle water from outside the premises to the fire itself."
