WATCH: Bat infestation shuts down Limpopo primary school
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A Limpopo school has been closed after health and safety inspectors discovered an infestation of bats in some classrooms.

They were called to Sigonde Primary School in Musina.
The bats were found crawling on the ceiling and walls of six classrooms including the one used by Grade R pupils.
The Department of Labour's Lerato Mashamba says there were compliance issues as well.
Cracks along the doorpost of the Grade 4 classroom extended into the Grade 5 class.
"When conducting the administration inspection, the inspector learned that on Tuesday, 24 May 2022, 50 learners were absent from school as they reported sick due to the infestation resulting from the bats,” says Mashamba.
“Educators alleged that snakes are killed on a weekly basis as they are attracted by the bats in the classrooms.
"A mobile classroom utilized by the Grade 2 learners is the only class that is still functioning, the school will remain closed until corrections are made."
