A video went viral showing Msimanga with blood on his face, calling the police while the man brands him a corrupt thief and claiming he is owed R1.4 million.

"This is what happens to liars and thieves Solly, you are a thief, and you won't turn this into a political storm in my direction. You are a thief, you owe money," the man could be heard saying on the video.

The party's provincial chairperson Fred Nel says the video is not an accurate depiction of events.

Solly was on a social visit to a family member this afternoon when a scuffle ensued between the family member and his business partner. Solly intervened and was then attacked by the assailant, police came and arrested the assailant but unfortunately Solly was already hurt.

"Solly is not connected to the matter. He was trying to make peace and break up the scuffle when he was attacked. Unfortunately, when you are a high-profile person like Solly they think they can shake you down for money," said Nel.

Nel added that the man has since apologised and confirmed he is not owed money by Msimanga
