There has been another cash-in-transit heist in Gauteng - this time in Sebokeng in the Vaal.

Gauteng police say a security official and a bystander were shot and wounded when a gang of armed suspects attacked the cash van on Monday morning.
“A Fidelity security official and an innocent bystander have been shot and wounded during a failed CIT heist in Sebokeng this morning. Both victims have been transported to the hospital for further medical care,” says Gauteng police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
“This incident happened in Evaton at around 10am as the cash van was about to load money from a Standard Bank ATM. This is when the security officer noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle attempting to block the cash van. A chase ensued, where the unknown man began firing shots at the cash van which ultimately came to a standstill.”
She says the suspects were unsuccessful in their attempt to rob the cash.
Listen to Athlenda Mathe below:
“The crew was forced out of the van and the driver was shot on the right hand as well as an innocent bystander. The gunman attempted to blow up the cash van twice but failed to get to the money.
“We can confirm that the police recovered a Toyota Camry, a Mazda which has burnt to ashes, rifle cartridge and a 9mm cartridge which were found at the scene.”
The police are hunting for an unknown number of suspects.
