[WATCH] Cash-in-transit van looted by onlookers
Community member have been caught on camera looting cash from a cash-in-transit-heist van following a brazen heist in Vlaklaagte, Mpumalanga.
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen on Monday after suspects opened fire on a cash-in-transit vehicle on the R573.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the suspects, travelling in eight cars, fired shots at the van in an attempt to force it to stop.
"That cash van came to a halt and the three security guards who were inside were removed from the vehicle and the suspect blew up the vehicle using explosives.

"At that stage, the suspects fled the scene in eight vehicles with an undisclosed amount of cash and two handguns that belonged to the security guards. The Hawks are investigating this case."
Video footage subsequently emerged on social media showing people scouring the scene for cash.
