WATCH: Five rescue lions arrive at SA sanctuary
Updated | By Algoa FM News
Quintuplet lions born in a private facility in Romania arrived in South Africa after being rescued by the FOUR PAWS animal rescue organisation in 2021 from deplorable living conditions.
After living at the organisations FELIDA Big Cat sanctuary in the Netherlands since their rescue, Roman, Vincent, Dolf, Ellie, and Geena endured several transnational flights and hours of being confined in transport cages before arriving at the Lionsrock Big Cat Sanctuary in Bethlehem, in the Free State, on Thursday.
Taking to Instagram Four Paws wrote: “The moment we have all been waiting for: The 5 Romanian lions are home! We rescued them from horrible conditions in private keeping last year and brought them to @felida_bigcatsanctuary where they recovered and got all the medical treatment they needed.
“We can’t wait to see them play and have fun in their new home. We are so grateful that we were able to make this new start possible for the young lions. Welcome home in paradise dear Roman, Geena, Dolf, Vincent, and Ellie.”
