Police have launched a manhunt for a group of 15 suspects believed to be behind a cash-in-transit heist in Wonderboom, north of Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the suspects struck on Tuesday morning.
“According to preliminary investigations, an SUV Mercedes Benz rammed into the cash van causing it to come to a standstill. Three G4S security officials were forced out of the vehicle, disarmed and their service pistols taken.
“The suspects then attacked the cash van with explosives causing it to explode together with the Mercedes SUV exploded. While busy at the scene, other security officials arrived which resulted in a crossfire between them and the suspects.”
She says the suspects fled the scene in a number of vehicles.
“While combing the scene, police discovered a grey BMW which was found abandoned at a nearby property. It’s believed the vehicle had been used as a getaway vehicle. The vehicle was found to be hijacked in Lyttleton earlier this year.
“The police Investigations are continuing to determine as to whether or not money was taken during the cash-in-transit heist.”
