An train, which officials say was authorised to move into the station, crashed into a stationary train at the Geldenhuys platform.

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa's (Prasa) Lillian Mofokeng says two-hundred-and-twenty-six commuters were injured with no fatalities.

The scene has since been cleared and opened for forensic tests to determine the cause of the collision.

ER24's Russel Meiring says most of the injured were found waking around the scene or sitting on the platform.

This is the second train accident in the past two weeks. A Shosholoza Meyl train crashed with a truck in Kroonstad last week Thursday. The collision claimed the lives of at least 19 people and injured 160 people.
