WATCH: Gold One miners resurface as strike ends
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The more than 400 workers at the Gold One Modder East mine, east of Johannesburg, resurfaced from their four-day sit-in on Monday.
The workers failed to resurface last Friday in protest against the dismissal of more than 50 workers linked to a similar sit-in by 500 miners in October.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) says workers were assaulted during the latest sit-in, with at least 13 of them having to receive medical attention.
Addressing the media outside the gates of the mine on Monday, NUM branch secretary at Gold One Mine, Sifiso Nkosi, said five of the miners were in a critical condition.

All of the mineworkers, who had been underground since Thursday, resurfaced and dispersed after a meal and a brief meeting.
