[WATCH] Hawks 'still making sense' of fatal CIT robbery in Klerksdorp
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Klerksdorp's central business district was rocked by a deadly cash-in-transit heist on Thursday.
A G4S security officer was fatally wounded, another severely injured and a bystander also came in harm's way when armed men stormed a cash-in-transit vehicle.
The incident took place outside the local Standard Bank branch.
According to the provincial Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, the elite crime fighting unit is still making sense of what transpired during the heist.
"At this stage our investigators are still working, they have been at the scene since yesterday trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together."

After the suspects made off with a large bag full of an undisclosed amount of cash, members of the community tried to approach the vehicle.
Rikhotso could not confirm why the members of the public then suddenly fled the crime scene, but she added that "lots of shots were fired, some of the shots were fired in the air."
