Moonsamy spoke to the media on what was supposed to be day two of the Meyiwa trial in the High Court in Pretoria.

“I wouldn’t be here if my client wasn’t bold enough to want to make sure that we understand exactly what the allegations are and who the arrested are and set the record straight.

"If it is eight years of your life having been suspended, of course you would want to protect the fact that she has been through the court of public opinion. She has never been a suspect, at any stage. She’s a witness. So you can see what we’re seeing here in court, the delays and the postponements, its negligence on the part of what needs to be done.”

Moonsamy spent the past two days in court on a watching brief for Khumalo.

She says that her client is relieved that Meyiwa’s murder case can finally proceed.

“She is finally in a place where she is so relieved that the trial is meant to have started and as  a watch brief it further confirms to me being here to be able to make such submissions and note such activities of postponements.

"Some of the aspects of dishonesty that have been exchanged here in the open courtroom regarding the fact that a confirmation that there was going to be a deliberate delay of a week in any event and yet we were called to court today just to postpone further. And these are things that we are here to observe and make submission on to assist in what were the prejudices that were found."
