Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole has condemned a violent attack on police officers at the Burgersfort Magistrates Court in Limpopo.
A video has surfaced social media showing angry members of the public attacking police officers and swearing at them.
National police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says the officers were attacked while responding to a complaint of possible vigilantism at the court on Monday.
"The complaint was that the mob at the court were demanding that two alleged murder suspects be handed over to them for 'punishment'."
Naidoo says one of the female officers sustained minor injuries after she was dragged and kicked on the floor.
Police later dispersed the crowd using stun grenades.
Two of the community members were arrested on charges of public violence.
