Updated | By Cliff Shiko
President Cyril Ramaphosa has been forced to apologise to delegates after his speech was disrupted by load shedding.
Ramaphosa was delivering the keynote address at the National Local Government Summit in Boksburg.
The gathering, hosted by Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, includes mayors and other municipal officials.
Making a joke about the incident Ramaphosa said the rolling power cuts remain a challenge for municipalities.
"Therefore we need to redefine the way ... [Power goes off]... I am sorry about that, I am being given lessons on how to deal with load shedding. I must say I am sorry about that, this continues to be our biggest challenge.
"I think it affects you at the local level because you distribute electricity and when it does this it gets your own customers to lose business and it disrupts livelihoods of our people and people lose confidence in us."
