It has been 11 days since the ground gave way under a container used as a lamp room, leaving three workers trapped underground at the Lily Mine in Mpumalanga.
A high level management team went underground on Tuesday to assess the structural integrity of the shaft and the surrounding area following further collapses over the weekend.
Rescue teams are waiting for the all-clear before they can be sent back underground to continue with rescue operations.
