WATCH: The making of Prince Harry's wedding cake
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Baker Claire Ptak and her team of
five personnel are the masterminds behind the three wedding cakes for Prince
Harry and Meghan Markle who are set to wed at Windsor Castle on Saturday.
Ptak says they consider themselves lucky to have been chosen to bake the royal wedding cake.
"We've been so lucky to work at Buckingham Palace to bake and ice the cakes."
Ptak says the cake is made of lemon sponge, with an elderflower syrup.
"It has an Amalfi lemon curd and then it has a Swiss meringue buttercream with elderflower.
"We will assemble it in-situ at Windsor Castle on Saturday morning. And then add flowers, because they obviously need to be added at the last moment."
Ptak hopes the flavours will be perfectly balanced.
"Where the buttercream is sweet, the lemon curd is very tart. So you get a really lovely thing happening when you take a bite, which is to get all of those flavours and sensations."
