The children were forced to hide under their seats as the bus came under attack by Manchester United fans who mistakenly thought the coach was carrying Liverpool players on Monday evening.

The bus was pelted with objects at the Tollgate pub ahead of the Premier League game between the two arch-rivals.

The bus was transporting a group of mostly schoolchildren from South Africa.

United supporters, who are up in arms over the football club’s owners, the Glazer family, held a protest before the game.

The owner of Manchester-based Beeline VIP Coaches, Adam Bradshaw, told the Guardian that the school group was on a football tour.

“Be assured everything is ok with the children, coach & the driver. Luckily there were no injuries or damage done to the coach and it just needed a good wash,” read a tweet from Bradshaw.

“Many thanks' you idiots, we were bringing a group of kids to the game (Manchester United Fans) all we’re frightened to death) where we’re the police when we needed you to keep the coach and kids safe???,” Bradshaw continued.
