[WATCH] Police discover illegal gold mine in Limpopo
Police in Limpopo have discovered an illegal gold mine in
Malamulele as part of the ongoing Operation Swara Tsotsi.
The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Transport and Community Safety, Namane Masemola, says the investigation continues in order to arrest illegal miners.
"This morning we reacted to the Malamulele area and we have been able to discover an illegal mining operation where illegal miners were getting gold," says Masemola.
He adds the operation also led them to a nearby shop.
"They have closed Malamulele Supermarket for selling expired consumable food from 2015 and also confiscated illegal cigarettes," says Masemola.
