The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) asked that people pray for the trapped workers at Lily Mine during the State of the Nation Address.
Amcu leader Joseph Mathunjwa on Wednesday suggested that President Jacob Zuma hold a moment of silence for everyone involved in the Lily Mine tragedy before he addresses the nation in Parliament on Thursday evening.
Three workers are still trapped underground after a collapse at the Mpumalanga mine outside Barberton on Friday morning.
Work to extract the two women and one man continued into the sixth day and Mathunjwa maintained they were doing all they can.
