President Cyril Ramaphosa will update South Africans on the government’s efforts to combat the outbreak of coronavirus.

The address comes amid speculation that the 21-day lockdown could be extended as government battles to keep the Covid-19 infections under control.
Thursday is day 14 of the national lockdown.
"The President’s address follows a meeting of the National Coronavirus Command Council held yesterday, 8 April 2020 and consultations that the President would have held during the course of the day with various social partners during the course of the day," the Presidency said in a statement.
South Africa’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 18 with KwaZulu-Natal reporting the most deaths at 9.
The Western Cape, Free State and Gauteng have each recorded a total of 3 fatalities.
The total number of positive cases stood at 1845 on Thursday.
