WATCH: SA has stood up for justice, says Mbalula
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says South Africa has stood up for justice, whatever the outcome of the International Court of Justice ruling on Friday.
Mbalula spoke to the media on Friday ahead of the ICJ's provisional judgment on Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
South Africa formally accused Israel of committing genocide against the people of Palestine.
The ANC has long been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, often likening it to the struggle against apartheid.
The ICJ will on Friday afternoon rule on South Africa's request to impose nine orders on Israel, including to immediately suspend military activity and to enable more humanitarian access.
Mbalula says the ANC is not concerned about the outcome.
"To us, whether the outcome is negative or positive, we have made our point. As a country we stand for justice, humanity agrees with us.
"We are against genocide, and this has been taken up to the highest court in the world.”
