WATCH: Severe weather hits Pretoria North
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
Severe weather, including a landspout, has caused significant damage to buildings, vehicles, and other properties in Pretoria North.

On Tuesday evening, the City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to reports of flooding in the Montana area.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the storm caused extensive destruction, uprooting trees and tearing off corrugated iron roof sheets from buildings, carports, and other structures along Sefako Makgatho Drive.
Strong winds left a residential complex on Veda Street near Enkeldoorn Street severely impacted, with major damage to upper floors, roofs, and external geysers.
The powerful winds brought down corrugated iron sheets, exposing the units to rain.

Spokesperson for the Tshwane Emergency Services Department (ESD), Lindsay Mnguni, says rainwater infiltrated the top floors, causing further water damage.
“The residents had to be evacuated and temporarily sheltered in neighbouring units, and our Disaster Management officials were on site assessing the damage and determining how to assist the affected families.”
Flooding incidents were also reported in areas like Mabopane where fire and rescue teams were deployed to assist.
No injuries have been reported.
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) confirmed the weather event was a landspout, defined as a ground-to-cloud rotational wind, and is less powerful than a tornado.
