Free State police spokesperson Sam Makhele says the driver and owner of the vehicle were both arrested.
"The police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving. This after an incident that appeared on Saturday around 12:43, apparently a vehicle which was driven over a sidewalk in front of a bottle store resulted in a collision and pressing the old woman over the wall.
"She was taken to Katlego Hospital for fractured legs and was transported to another hospital due to the seriousness of the injury.”
Makhele says the owner handed himself over and was released on warning.
"He admitted to being a driver. The 45-year-old was charged and released on a warning. But later another information came up linking another person who was in the vehicle - a lady - as the driver of the vehicle during the accident.
"She was traced and charged.”
The suspects are set to appear in court on Thursday.
"Meanwhile, we are anticipating that when they are appearing there might be other charges which might be added, as the owner presented himself as the driver when he was not the driver,” Makhele says.
