[WATCH] Wearing of masks in taxis, buses non-negotiable, warns Mamabolo
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo has warned that the wearing of face masks by drivers and commuters in taxi and buses is non-negotiable.
Mamabolo was speaking on the sidelines of an initiative by taxi and bus operators to ensure their drivers and commuters complied with Covid-19 restrictions.
Mamabolo told journalists that President Cyril Ramaphosa has issues directives on the level 3 restrictions - and those are not up for debate.
"So, we shouldn't be negotiating with people about that, we must enforce the law.
"Some people are complying, and those who are not complying are putting the lives of others at risk.”
He added: "The other important issue to note is that we are relying on people to respond positively and where they are not responding positively, obviously the law has to take its course."
