Water and Sanitation deny dispute with SANDF over Vaal clean-up
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
The Department of Water and Sanitation has denied reports that its locked in a dispute with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) over efforts to clean up pollution in the Vaal River.
The Sunday Times reported at the weekend that the department had brought in a specialist company to fix broken sewage systems more than a year after the soldiers were deployed.
But departmental spokesperson Sputnik Ratau maintains the two entities are working together to clean up the pollution, adding that a dispute would not make sense.

“The Department of Water and Sanitation is not in dispute with the SANDF with regards to the work that is being done as part of the Vaal River intervention.
“Remember that all of us, the SANDF and the Department of Water and Sanitation, are part of one government.”
