Water levels increase at Vaal Dam
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Vaal Dam's level is sitting above 50 percent for the first time in nearly 11 months.

According to the Department of Water and Sanitation, the Vaal Dam's level has risen to 52,9 percent.
Spokesperson Sputnik Ratau says this is mainly due to the rains over the weekend.
"We appreciate the rains that has come and we are cautiously optimistic, especially looking at what the forecast is saying looking at the time between January and March," says Ratau.
Ratau is, however, cautioning consumers to keep using water sparingly.
"The kind of rainfall that we have had, though welcome, hasn't taken us as a county out of the drought. We are still in a drought situation and we do encourage everybody to adhere to the water restrictions as well as understand we all have an individual responsibility to save water," says Sputnik.
