In Johannesburg, a water shutdown is planned for 54 hours in order for maintenance work to be done. The shutdown will affect the entire Metro, although City authorities have said reservoirs will be filled up before-hand, and that Rand Water will also supply water via the Palmiet and Eikenhof pump stations to Johannesburg Water reservoirs.

The City of Tshwane has warned residents of Bronberg, Olympus, and Boardwalk about a possible water supply interruption on Tuesday and Wednesday due to scheduled pipeline maintenance work that has to be carried in the area.

In addition, Rand Water said it also plans maintenance work on the pipelines that supply water to the Vereeniging pump station from Monday until Wednesday, affecting Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Pretoria West, Wonderboom, Thaba Tshwane, and Blair Athol, among others.

According to the City of Tshwane's Lindela Mashigo, the maintenance work is unrelated to the maintenance work being done in the City of Johannesburg.

"Water supply interruptions will be avoided at all costs, though it may occur sporadically between 07h00 until 18h00," said Mashigo.

Residents of all affected areas have been asked to use water sparingly in order to not drain reservoirs completely.

The City of Johannesburg's Isaac Dhludhlu says they have been consulting with Rand Water to ensure there is minimal impact on residents.
