WC police probe Strand jogger's arrest

Western Cape police have begun investigations into a video depicting police officials arresting a jogger in Strand on Friday morning.

The video has been circulating on social media platforms with the reason for her arrest unclear as the woman seemed to be exercising in the time of day when this is allowed.

Police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa says the arresting officers have been interviewed.
"Preliminary findings indicate that after being taken to Strand police station, the woman in question was released as detectives could find no basis for her to be charged," said Potelwa.
"As the investigation into the conduct of these police officials progresses, police members are cautioned about regard for the rights other persons."
