WCape men beaten, stoned to death
Updated | By Lonwabo Miso
Three men were beaten and stoned to death, allegedly by disgruntled community members in Vlei, in the Sweet Home Farms informal settlement near Cape Town, Western Cape police said on Tuesday.
Two of the men, aged 21 and 39, were found stoned to death on Monday, Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.
Their wrists had been tied together.
The third man, believed to be in his 30s, was found dead near the bodies of the other two.
"He seemed to have been assaulted and partly burnt," said Kinana.
The motive for the killings was not known, but the men were alleged to have been involved in rapes in the area.
Kinana said the police conducted door-to-door visits in the area last week to urge members of the community not to take the law into their own hands.
Police were investigating.
