We are going to take back the buildings: Makhura
Updated | By AFP
Gauteng Premier David Makhura believes people were mobilised
last week to attack the police during an operation to confiscate counterfeit
goods in the Johannesburg CBD.
On Wednesday Makhura joined the law enforcement in the central business district of the city to raid buildings and stores in possession of counterfeit goods.
Makhura applauded the manner in which the police handled themselves last week, by retreating when they were attacked, rather than retaliating.
He said people would have been killed if the police had retaliated and the officers would have been blamed for a massacre.
“There is a criminal syndicate that is involved in this and in all these buildings. And I have to say we are going to take all these buildings, so the owners of these building were these counterfeit goods are stored are in big trouble themselves.”
