Lesufi replied to the debate on his State of the Province Address on Friday.

On Thursday, political parties responded to his speech, saying the ANC has failed to address the rising crime levels or come up with a master plan to address service delivery and resolve the power crises.

Lesufi delivered his initial speech at the Johannesburg City Hall on Monday.

The EFF labeled Lesufi’s plans for the province as “unrealistic promises” that are lacking in detail and have dismissed it as nothing more than “politicking”.

Lesufi responded to the statement and said: “If I had a choice, I would not deliver a SOPA as people have lost confidence in what the government promises and prefer more action.”

He continued: “As the government will talk less and do more.”

Lesufi vowed to change the living conditions of people in townships, informal settlements, and hostels.

He also promised to address the water crises in the province.

Lesufi also took a swipe at opposition parties, saying that they “continue to point out problems instead of proposing solutions.”

Lesufi remained steadfast in his conviction that the ANC will remain in power following the 2024 elections.

“We will not surrender this hard-fought liberty to formations that are directionless.”

He also called for a corruption-free provincial administration, instructing officials “to do their work without misusing funds.”
