WEATHER: A cold front on the way

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the western parts of the North West, as well as the north-western parts of the Free State.

An intense cold front is expected to affect the Western Cape on Friday.


Gauteng: Partly cloudy and cool to warm, becoming fine in the north from the afternoon.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy and cool with fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

Limpopo: Cloudy with morning fog patches and drizzle along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, becoming fine from the west in the afternoon.

North West: Fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy in the in the west and south with isolated thundershowers in the southern and western parts.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers but scattered in the east and south-east.

Northern Cape: Fog along the coast at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm but partly cloudy in the extreme north-east.

Western Cape: Partly cloudy over the eastern parts at first, otherwise fine and warm, but cool in places along the south-west and south coast. It will become cloudy along the south coast by evening.

Eastern Cape: Cloudy over the western and northern interior at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm. The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly becoming moderate to fresh easterly in the east.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly.
