WEATHER: Heat wave expected to persist

A Heat Wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over the Highveld of Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Gauteng, Free State and North West Provinces until Monday, persisting over the North West and Free State Provinces until at least Tuesday.

Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld. 


Gauteng: Very hot in places in the north otherwise fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east at first with morning drizzle and fog patches on the escarpment, otherwise fine and hot but very hot in places in the Lowveld. It will become partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme north-east.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the east at first with morning drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise fine and very hot but extremely hot in places in the Limpopo Valley and the Western Bushveld. Northern Cape: Very hot in the extreme north-east, otherwise fine and warm to hot but cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape: Partly cloudy and cool along the coast in the morning, otherwise fine and warm, becoming cloudy along the south coast in the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, becoming south-easterly along the south-west coast and light and variable along the south coast by the evening.

Eastern Cape: Fine and warm, but partly cloudy along the coast at times where it will be cool. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated light showers and rain. It will become partly cloudy and hot in places in the west with isolated afternoon thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to north-easterly at first, otherwise south-easterly.
