Extremely high fire danger conditions expected over parts of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, North West Province, the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.

Heavy rain and localised flooding expected in parts of the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.


An intense cold front is expected to affect the country from Thursday evening through into Saturday. 


Gauteng: Hot in the north, otherwise partly cloudy windy and warm.

Mpumalanga: Hot to very hot in the Lowveld, otherwise fine, windy and warm, becoming partly cloudy on the high ground by the afternoon.

Limpopo: Very hot in places in the Lowveld and Limpopo Valley otherwise fine, windy in places and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the west by the afternoon.

North West: Fine to partly cloudy and cool in the west otherwise warm.


Rustenburg: 14 / 30


Free State: Fine to partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north and northwest with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east.

Northern Cape: Cloudy and cold with rain at times. It will be very cold in places over the interior. The wind along the coast will be strong westerly becoming southerly in the afternoon.

Western Cape: Cloudy and cold but cool in the east. Rain is expected in the western parts spreading to the eastern parts in the afternoon. Heavy fall and localised flooding can be expected in places in the Cape Metropole, Cape Wineland and Overberg, spreading to the Eden District coastal areas in the afternoon.

Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and windy with isolated showers but scattered along the coast. The wind along the coast will be strong to possible gale force westerly.


Port Elizabeth: 13 / 18


KwaZulu-Natal: Fine becoming partly cloudy in the south later with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north-easterly becoming south-westerly from the south spreading northwards.
