WEATHER: Severe thunderstorms expected

Gale force south-easterly wind of 60 to 70km/h are expected in places over the Cape Peninsula of the Western Cape from this afternoon.
Severe thunderstorms with possible heavy rainfall, hail, flash flooding, and damaging winds are expected over Gauteng, Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, southern and western parts of Limpopo, central and eastern parts of the Northwest, northeastern parts of the Free State as well as the northern and western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
Gauteng: Hot in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Partly cloudy cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the extreme south. It will become cloudy in the east from the afternoon.

Limpopo: Very hot in places in the Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the south.

North West: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east.
Rustenburg: 20 / 29
Free State: Cool in the north-east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers in the east, otherwise scattered but isolated in the west.
Bloemfontein: 14 / 28
Northern Cape: Cloudy along the north coast at first where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in the north-east. It will become partly cloudy in the east and south from the afternoon with isolated thundershowers in the extreme north-east.
Kimberley: 18 / 31
Western Cape: Cloudy and cool with isolated to scattered showers and rain in the south, otherwise fine and warm but hot in places over the western interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly along the west coast where it will be light and variable a first, otherwise fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly, reaching gale force along the Peninsula from the afternoon.

Eastern Cape: Cloudy in places in the south where isolated showers and rain is expected but scattered along the south coast, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated thundershowers expected over the eastern interior.
Port Elizabeth: 15 / 20
KwaZulu-Natal: Cloudy in the east spreading to the west by the evening, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the west, where it will be warm in places.
