WEATHER: Severe thunderstorms expected

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga Highveld, Gauteng, extreme eastern parts of North West and the south-western Bushveld of Limpopo.

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in the Free State and North West Provinces, as well as the northern parts of Northern Cape until Tuesday.


Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld.


Gauteng: Hot in the north otherwise fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east with morning drizzle and fog patches on the escarpment, otherwise fine and hot. It will become partly cloudy with isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the east with morning drizzle and fog patches along the southern escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but extremely hot in places in the western Bushveld with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

North West: Fine and very hot becoming partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers in the east.


Rustenburg: 20 / 37


Free State: Fine and hot to very hot becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated thundershowers in the afternoon.

Northern Cape: Cloudy along the north coast where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm, but hot in the northern interior. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.


Kimberley: 17 / 37


Western Cape: Cloudy along the south coast in the morning and evening with possible fog, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but cool in places along the south-west and south coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly along the south coast, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.


Cape Town: 14 / 25


Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and warm but cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light and variable becoming moderate south-easterly in the afternoon.


Port Elizabeth: 15 / 25


KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior otherwise cloudy and cool in the north. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, but scattered along the coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate east to north-easterly becoming south-easterly in places.
