WEATHER: Severe thunderstorms expected

Severe thunderstorms leading to heavy downpours are expected in parts of the North-West, Gauteng, the Free State, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.

Hot and dry weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions in the interior of the West Coast District of the Western Cape and the south-western interior of the Northern Cape.


Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy with morning fog patches and drizzle over the high grounds, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm to hot in the Lowveld, with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

Limpopo: Cloudy with morning fog patches and drizzle over the eastern high grounds, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld, Limpopo Valley and the Western Bushveld, with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

North West: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the west.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm to hot but cool in places in the north-east with scattered showers and thundershowers in the extreme north-east otherwise isolated, except in the south-west.

Northern Cape: Extremely hot in places over the interior, otherwise fine and hot to very hot but warm along the coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.

Western Cape: Partly cloudy in the east with fog patches along the south coast at first, otherwise fine and hot to very hot but warm along the coast. It will be extremely hot in places over the interior Of the West Coast District.

Eastern Cape: Cloudy at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be light and variable becoming moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly.


Port Elizabeth: 16 / 26


KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered thundershowers in the extreme west. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly.
