WEATHER: Severe thunderstorms expected

Severe thunderstorms are possible parts of Gauteng, the Free State, the North West, KwaZulu Natal and the Eastern Cape.

Extremely hot conditions are expected in places over the western parts of the Eastern Cape, and the Central and Little Karoo of the Western Cape.


Hot and dry weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions over the Central and Little Karoo of the Western Cape.


Gauteng: Cloudy at first with morning fog patches on the High ground, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the extreme south.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east with morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but very hot in the Lowveld. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected from the afternoon.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the east with morning drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.

North West: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered thundershowers.


Rustenburg: 19 / 32


Free State: Cool in places in the north-east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered thundershowers.

Northern Cape: Morning fog along the coast, where it will be cool, otherwise partly cloudy and hot,but very hot in places over the central interior. It will become fine later.


Kimberley: 20 / 35


Western Cape: Morning fog along the north coast, otherwise partly cloudy in the south-west, where it will be warm. It will be fine and hot to very hot over the interior, but extremely hot in places in the east, becoming partly cloudy in the evening.


Cape Town: 17 / 25


Eastern Cape: Fog patches in the interior at first otherwise fine and hot to very hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly to easterly becoming strong south-westerly towards evening reaching gale force between St Francis and Algoa Bay.


Port Elizabeth: 16 / 29


KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.
