WEATHER: Snow expected in EC

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of extremely cold temperatures over parts of the country this weekend.

Disruptive snowfalls are expected over Sneeuberg and Winterberg of Eastern Cape overnight on Friday spreading to the southern Drakensberg area and Underberg of Kwazulu-Natal Saturday morning.


The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold and wet conditions are expected early morning, with snow possible over the Swartberg Mountain Range Friday afternoon spreading to the Eastern Cape by evening where snowfall can be expected over night.

Limpopo: Warm in the Lowveld, Limpopo Valley and Western Bushveld, otherwise fine and cool.

North West: Fine and cool but warm in places in the west.

Free State: Fine to partly cloudy and cool.


Bloemfontein: 04 / 21


Northern Cape: Cold on the southern high ground, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and cool, otherwise cloudy with rain and showers in the south west.


Kimberley: 05 / 24


Western Cape: Cool in the east otherwise cloudy and cold with rain and showers clearing in the west from afternoon. Heavy falls are possible along the mountains of the Cape Metropole, Overberg and southern parts of the Cape Winelands early morning.


Cape Town: 12 / 15


Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy to cloudy and cool with isolated showers but scattered in the south. Snowfalls expected over the high lying areas.


Port Elizabeth: 15 / 20


KwaZulu-Natal: Fine and warm  but cool in the extreme west. It will become partly cloudy from the south later.
