‘Wheelchair scammers’ target Tshwane businesses
Updated | By Eva Chipa
The City of Tshwane has warned of scammers purporting to work for the
city and asking for quotes for wheelchairs.
The suspects target unsuspecting businesses in the city, requesting quotations for them to provide 26 motorised wheelchairs.
“It is disheartening for the city to discover that unsuspecting companies are still defrauded this way. We urge the public to be vigilant when dealing with such matters,” says the city’s spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
“It is appalling how these scammers prey on the emotions of unsuspecting businesses by presenting invalid information about the existence of a tender advert.
He adds that all the city’s procurement adverts are placed on its official website.
