Johannesburg Water has deployed 17 more mobile water tankers to residents as they battle ongoing water supply challenges.
This supplements the 12 fixed water tankers already deployed.
Johannesburg Water says they have registered steady improvement at Crown Gardens reservoir that left thousands of residents without water in several suburbs this week.
The utility's spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala says systems are stabilising in Eagles Nest, Alan Manor, Naturena, Linden, Honeydew, and Boschkop.

"The Crown Gardens system has improved overnight and pumped at the reservoir commenced. The Entity’s technical teams started pumping via the Crown Gardens reservoir and tower in the early hours of Saturday morning,”” she says.
"High-lying areas will start receiving water with low pressures as the system gradually fills up.
"At 07:00 this morning, the outlet of the reservoir was partially opened to allow for the system to start increasing volume. Hence the residents in the low-lying areas will start to receive water during the course of the day, albeit with poor pressure, until the system is fully charged."
"This positive development comes after the Crown Gardens reservoir complex was negatively impacted by pumping capacity over the past couple of days."
She
says in the Commando system (which comprises the Brixton, Crosby, and Hursthill
reservoirs and towers) the Hursthill 2 reservoir remains critical, while the
rest of the systems are in recovery mode, especially Brixton.
