Whiskey, sheep, haircare among gifts declared by MPs

A list of gifts and assets declared by Members of Parliament for 2022 has been published by the national legislature.
The information appeared in the 2022 register of members' interests - which was issued on Monday by Parliament detailing all assets, trust and gifts belonging to members of Parliament that they had received in the previous year.
Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe declared a bottle of Russian vodka and a bottle of Japanese whiskey worth almost R6000 and artwork worth R4000.
Minister of Women, Youth and the Disabled Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma declared a R32 000 iPhone along with an ornamental telescope worth R800.
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande received sheep worth R5000 as a gift.
DA MP Natasha Mazzone also declared a monthly sponsorship for her hair care worth R2500.
