White parents must teach kids to embrace love and not racism - Lamola

Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has called for a thorough probe into the racial incident at the University of Stellenbosch.

Lamola’s remarks come amid outrage of an incident on Sunday which saw a white student Theuns du Toit urinating on the belongings of a black student Babalo Ndwayana.
The incident was captured on video.
Lamola, who was tabling the budget for his department in Parliament on Tuesday, blamed some parents for not teaching their children to embrace other races.
"I condemn the racist incidents that continue to raise their ugly heads in some of our high schools and university, in particular Stellenbosch University recently. The university must leave no stone unturned in investigating the incident all of us must send a clear and unambiguous message that there is no space for racism in our country.
"Parents must teach their kids love and to embrace diversity and not racism, white parents in particular have also a duty to embrace diversity and to spread love, same as black parents."
Du Toit has since been suspended from the university pending an internal investigation.
On Thursday afternoon Ndwayana laid criminal charges against Du Toit.
"A 20-year-old complainant opened cases of housebreaking unknown, malicious damage to property and crimen injuria today at about 14:30 at Stellenbosch SAPS for investigation. Investigations continues, no arrest as yet," said Western Cape police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk.
