The revelation was made by slain Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa’s best friend Tumelo Madlala, who took the stand for a second day on Wednesday.

Madlala said Twala came to home shared by Khumalo and Meyiwa in Mulbarton a few days after the goalkeeper was shot and killed in 2014.

“Because Kelly was crying in those days and because I was not well, she’s the one who informed Chicco that this is Senzo’s friend. I heard him speak to Kelly and asked her if she didn’t want to go overseas for a holiday.”

Chicco Twala is the father of Longwe, who was also present in the Vosloorus house when Meyiwa was killed.

But according to testimony, Longwe ran out of the house when the intruders entered the home of Khumalo’s mother.

He was apparently not present when Meyiwa was killed.

Five men – Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli –  face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition.
