The students, who are protesting for free higher education, tried to start fires on campus near the Old Mutual Hall, the DJ Du Plessis Building, the Grand Stand at the Science Stadium & the Umthombo Building.

Campus security and police had their hands full in trying to extinguish the fires while other buildings were flooded as the protesting students left the taps open.

Police and private security arrested two students while cleaning operations are underway on campus.
