A woman was killed on the N2 highway north of Durban, paramedics said on Monday.
Netcare 912 spokesman Chris Botha said woman was struck by a car as she attempted to cross the N2 near the Ballito offramp at about 9pm on Sunday night.
She was struck by a car heading in a northerly direction.
“It appears from the damage of the vehicle that it was a high impact collision, her body crumpled the front and bonnet of the vehicle and hit the windshield with such force that it was totally shattered, ” said Botha.
Paramedics found the woman lying on the highway, having sustained extensive injuries. She had died before their arrival and was declared dead at the scene.
Ballito is about 40 kilometres north of Durban.
