Woman killed in Pretoria highway crash
A woman was killed and a man sustained critical injuries when their vehicle overturned on the N14 near Jean Avenue, south of Pretoria, Gauteng paramedics said on Sunday.
ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said paramedics arrived on the scene at about 8pm and found the vehicle lying on the side of the road.
A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found with fatal injuries in the vehicle. A man, also believed to be in his 30s, was found with critical injuries behind the steering wheel of the vehicle, he said.
“There was nothing that paramedics could do for the woman and she was declared dead on the scene. The man was extricated and stabilised on the scene before he was rushed off to a nearby hospital under advanced life support supervision. He sustained several injuries ranging from fractures to possible internal injuries.
“The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. Bystanders on the scene explained that the vehicle was traveling on the N14 highway towards Johannesburg when the incident occurred,” Vermaak said.
