A mother of a two-year-old girl has been killed in a freak accident in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday.

Paramedics say the accident took place along the N2 near uMdloti, north of Durban.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst says the family’s car suffered a tyre puncture and broke down in the centre lane.
“Report from paramedics on scene indicates an adult female and a toddler were struck by a car after exiting their broken-down vehicle. Sadly, the woman had to sustain fatal injuries and the young child sustained serious injuries.”
The child was ejected from the mother's arms and landed about 20m away.
The mother was declared dead on the scene.
