She had been driving in Earlsfield, when her car went through an intersection at Riverdene Drive.

"She was airborne with her vehicle and then landed through the roof of a house that was built at the lower level to the road. The car came to a standstill inside a newly built bedroom that was used as a storeroom, fortunately three children were in the next door bedroom playing," said Netcare 911's Chris Botha.

According to Botha, a number of emergency personnel had to be called to the scene in order to help free the badly injured woman from the wreckage.

"The rescue officers used the jaws-of-life, and had to remove the entire roof of the vehicle to be able to get her out of the vehicle," he said.
