Woman who kidnapped Zephany Nurse sentenced to 10 years in prison

The woman who was found guilty of kidnapping Zephany Nurse from the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town 19 years ago, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Western Cape High Court sentenced the woman to 10 years direct imprisonment on Monday morning.
The woman kidnapped Nurse just three days after her birth in 1997.
Nurse was reunited with her biological parents in 2015 after her biological sister heard of a girl in school who had a striking resemblance to her and her parents.
DNA tests later confirmed that Nurse was indeed the teenager's biological sister.
Judge John Hlophe handed down sentence on Monday morning, saying he had taken her personal circumstances into account, but that the crimes she committed was of a serious nature.
She was sentenced to 14 years, of which 4 have been suspended for five years.
