Women in court for trying to sell lion cubs

Four women are in custody in Boksburg after being arrested for being in the possession of three lion cubs that they were allegedly trying to sell.
Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the four, Jorain Hill, Megan du Plessis, Yandri Bekker, and Lauren Bartholomew, appeared in court on Wednesday.
He said they were charged with illegal dealing, possession, and transportation of endangered species.
“The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime investigation arose after a tipoff from Crime Intelligence was swiftly acted upon on Monday,” Ramovha said.
He said following a surveillance a search and seizure operation, the four were arrested in Boksburg North and three lion cubs estimated to be around five weeks old were rescued from them.
Their case was postponed to Tuesday for a bail application.
